Thesis (Ph.D.)--The University of Wisconsin - Madison, 2016.
The main purpose of my gradate work has been to develop novel coherent spectroscopic methods and apply them to important photoelectrochemical and photovoltaic systems. This endeavor has required that I not focus too tightly on any one thing. I have been equally at home in the laboratory, in the machine shop, and in the office. Specifically, I will present five major areas of work: 1. Spectroscopy of hematite and hematite heterostructures, in chapter 5. 2. Spectroscopy of perovskite nanostructures, in chapter 6. 3. Photophysics simulations of perovskite excited states, in chapter 7. 4. Programming an education-oriented software application, in chapter 8. 5. Development of significant new hardware, in chapter 9. I will also provide some background motivation (below), and basic principles (chapters 2 through 4) necessary to understand my results.
