Financial institutions adopt advanced digital trends and use an omni-channel approach to increase customer satisfaction by enhancing the banking experience for the customer. Mobile banking, ATMs, wearable devices, and blockchain technology provide convenient methods for customers to complete their financial transactions. Regulatory requirements establish the guidelines for financial institutions adopting advanced technologies. Mobile banking, advanced ATM technologies, wearable devices, and blockchain technology create unique cybersecurity risks for financial institutions. This research provides information on how attackers use technology to gain access to personally identifiable information and create vulnerabilities for financial institutions and their customers. Customers utilize digital technology on a regular basis. In order to remain competitive and meet the expectation of customers and regulators, financial institutions must adopt digital technologies. Advanced digital trends create opportunities for attackers to gain access to customer and financial institution information. Future research encourages the review of ways for financial institutions to use digital technologies to attract the unbanked consumer. Social media is an evolving digital trend that provides new opportunities for financial institutions and their customers.
