Thesis (Psy.D.)--The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, 2017.
The following dissertation investigated the current awareness and knowledge clinical psychology doctoral students in the Chicagoland area possess about Energy Psychology and Complementary and Alternative Therapies. In this mixed methods study, students answered a questionnaire regarding their attitude about Energy Psychology and their interest to incorporate Energy Psychology into clinical practice. Students also completed the Psychologist's Attitudes toward Complementary and Alternative Therapies (PATCAT). Results showed that 62% of the participants reported having a positive attitude about Energy Psychology and 49% were interested in integrating Energy Psychology into their future clinical practice. The majority of students were more interested in recommending a client to an energy psychologist rather than training in Energy Psychology. Overall, students reported interest in gaining more knowledge about Energy Psychology and Complementary and Alternative Therapies. Future research can endeavor to address the hesitancies identified through this study to increase the positive attitude and integration of Energy Psychology and Complementary and Alternative Therapies in mental healthcare.
