This thesis, "A Study of Math 180," investigates the effectiveness of a computer-based intervention for mathematics that is being used in the New Haven, CT public schools. The intervention, Math 180, is a commercial program from the Scholastic Corporation. The goal of the program is to fill in, or bridge, gaps in students' basic math skills. Several New Haven public schools began using Math 180 in the 2013-2014 school year. This study looks at the scores from three of these schools. Specific groups of students that fell into the basic or below basic category were chosen to go through the program. As part of the program, students take the Scholastic Math Inventory, SMI, assessment three times per year to gather data regarding students' growth in these targeted areas. This thesis looks at whether students in the Math 180 program showed significant growth within the program itself, and whether those students showed significantly more growth than a control group of similar students who were not in the math 180 program. The following results were used to determine growth:
