Many sacrifices have been made by OEF/OIF veterans as they left their loved ones and home and went to foreign lands to fight a War on Terrorism. Current research studies and literature have identified PTSD to be one of the most prevalent and significant psychiatric disorder these veterans may have to deal with when they come home from war. Along with elevated war related stress symptoms, other life stressors may be experienced during various times post-deployment. This study sets out to understand the level of veterans' other life stressors after controlling for the severity of PTSD symptoms in various times post-deployment. This was accomplished by conducting an exploratory study to ascertain if the OEF/OIF LSQ measures specific levels of life stressors at various times post-deployment when controlling for the severity of PTSD symptoms. The 58 question survey OEF/OIF LSQ was formulated by this researcher to measure psychological, physical and relational functions and financial conditions during various times post-deployment. The OEF/OIF LSQ was face validated by experts in the field and the survey's internal consistency reliability was established. Data was examined using multiple linear regression and results reflected those of other studies, indicating that the level of severity of PTSD symptoms was significantly correlated with increased levels of psychological, physical, interpersonal and financial problems.

After controlling for PTSD symptoms, participants reported relatively low levels of other psychological symptoms and physical problems. Further analysis of the data indicated that psychological and physical stressors had no significant correlational relationships with various times post-deployment when controlling for the severity of PTSD symptoms. After controlling for PTSD symptoms, participants reported relatively low levels of interpersonal stressors and financial problems, but a further analysis of the data indicated that interpersonal stressors and financial problems had a significant correlational relationships with various times post-deployment even when controlling for the severity of PTSD symptoms. Interpersonal relationships and financial conditions worsened as time went on after returning from war.
