Thesis (M.S.W.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2016.
The purpose of this project was to locate a potential funding source and write a grant application to provide child victims of commercial sexual exploitation with specialized, comprehensive, trauma-informed services focused on harm reduction. The literature review revealed that commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) is a chronic social issue to detrimental outcomes. The chosen funding source was the Joseph Drown Foundation, which focuses on programs aimed at bettering communities and providing marginalized populations with resources. The proposed program aims to provide trauma-informed therapeutic services to CSEC victims through partnership with the Department of Children and Family Service for the CSEC population in Compton, California, though a harm reduction approach. If funded, this program should promote better quality of life for an exploited population. Actual submission and/or funding of the grant proposal was not required for successful completion of this project.
