Stalking is a significant problem in society that can result in violence and lead to serious psychological and physical consequences. In the United States, stalking recently became recognized as illegal behavior. Literature regarding gender within stalking and its role in the U.S. judicial system is currently limited in forensic psychology. This study is aimed at discovering the relationship between gender of a juror and the perception of stalking in both male and female perpetrators. Participants are assessed for gender and randomly assigned to two groups that will both be given a transcript of the California State Law against stalking and a vignette that describes such case. The first group will be informed that the perpetrator is male and the victim is female, and the second group will be informed that the perpetrator is female and the victim is male. A questionnaire will assess the participants' perspectives on verdicts, sentencing, and victims through a survey on Qualtrics and compared using a chi-squared method. The results of this study can directly influence the selection of jury in future trials regarding stalking or contain stalking behavior.
