Public-Private Partnerships for development have served as a means of pursuing development for a number of years. In light of the recent economic downturn there has been an increasing number of concerns in terms of creating new development and likewise encouraging economic development. This thesis consists of three case studies of development projects in the Lansing region.

This thesis consists of three case studies of development projects in the Lansing region.
520 $a The researcher conducted six qualitative interviews with public and private officials, from each project, who were involved in the process. The purpose of the qualitative interviews was to further gain better insight as to how public-private Partnerships operate in the Lansing region with special focus on the financing mechanisms utilized.
520 $a The research was limited by the fact that this work only focused on three projects and only consisted of one representative from the public sector and private sector within each project. To further expand upon this work further research should involve a larger sample of officials and occur over a longer period of time. To better understand the best practices of public-private partnerships researchers should examine the best practices and influence of feasibility studies as well as the engagement of different partners in the processes.
