We are surrounded by objects and products every day of our lives, but what do they really mean to us, how do they influence us, and how are they used against us? By drawing on almost 20 years in retail management and an education immersed in art, history, and culture, I hope to shed light on the ways in which objects mediate our lived experiences and on the consequences of our purchasing decisions. Given the current state of our country, with massive unemployment and resulting inequalities, Buy Me: The Economic and Cultural Implications of the Objects We Purchase offers practical solutions based on a theoretical investigation of the causes and influencing agents of consumer culture.
