Thesis (D.H.Ed.)--A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, 2015.
An athlete's success hinges on much more than physical conditioning and sports practice. Mental preparation is also an essential ingredient in athletic achievement. The proposed research investigates the use of mental imagery with female high school basketball players as a means of increasing sport performance while anxiety is reduced. Randomly assigning participants to experimental and control conditions, the investigator will measure the effect of mental imagery training on athletic performance. Additional measures include the participant's grade point average and participation in multiple extracurricular activities in assessing sport performance with the use of mental imagery.
