Autoethnography involves writing about personal experiences in relation to culture. This autoethnography exhibits how personal meditation experiences relate to the culture of meditation as a means of knowing oneself. My personal experiences, recounted using memories and journals from a time frame of more than two years, are presented to support literature about and scientific findings on meditation. The definition of meditation, why the practice is beneficial, how to meditate, and the road blocks to the establishment of a meditation practice are discussed in detail. Thoughts, feelings, and experiences of a novice practitioner are shared as a means for other novice practitioners to find the confidence to begin, develop, or maintain their own meditation practice. Meditation is an activity everyone can enjoy, but it requires a commitment to the practice and the willingness to look inward.
