This paper explores information retention when using simulations in eLearning for Consumer Customer Service Representatives at TELUS. A sample of 13 employees participated in this study. Seven of the participants took an eLearning course with a simulation and 6 took the course without a simulation. The rate of information retention was measured upon completion of the eLearning course. Learning styles and generational differences, i.e. Millennial, Generation X or Baby Boomer, was also taken into account when looking at retention. It was determined that the use of a simulation does help a learner in the retention of information however; the data reflects that simulations need to be designed to take into account how people learn and how generations interact with technology.
