520 $a Purpose: This assessment evaluates the MICN's perceptions of initial and ongoing MICN training and how it relates to their job responsibilities.
520 $a Sample: Fifty-eight nurses with current MICN certification at a large academic, Level 1 trauma hospital in an urban area of Central California were surveyed.
520 $a Methods: A fifteen question web-based survey was sent to all certified MICN's who work in the Emergency Department.
520 $a Results: MICN's unanimously agree that the role of the MICN has large responsibility associated with it; there should be a basic level of knowledge and skills that all entry level MICN's should have upon completion of the course and quality assurance is important for training and educational programs.
520 $a Implications: Not only do these findings support the need for a training program that is regulated, monitored and evaluated by a governing body for quality assurance but it brings about the opportunity to initiate further research in this area to determine need as well as error rates of on-line medical control.
