This research examined mobile banking by exploring the risks and security measures of mobile devices, as well as banking applications. This study investigated the risks of information fraud, technical weaknesses of applications and physical characteristics of the devices, and dissemination of knowledge from government, financial institutions, and customer awareness. This research also explored the security measures currently in use on mobile devices and in the applications. The research also explored whether the current security measures were sufficient for combating current cyberattack methods. The conclusions of this research are that updated security measures are needed to combat the many pieces of malware. This study also found that while there is some cooperation between government and financial institutions, there is a disagreement concerning the roles each entity is responsible for in protecting customer data. Finally, this research revealed the importance of further educating consumers on the risks faced in mobile banking as well as mobile devices. This study was designed to generate interest in mobile banking security and to assist in educating consumers about risks in the mobile world.
