Video Volume is an investigation into the techniques and potentials for full motion video in the virtual space. Using multi-camera matrices to capture people and environments volumetrically, the Video Volume process creates full-motion video objects for use in virtual reality. The project looks at the expressive affordances of photographically recorded moments in space and time. Leveraging techniques from cinema, theater, and games, Video Volume aims to develop a method and final experience that allows spontaneous creativity for both performer and participant.
