Previous research has demonstrated that immigrants will assimilate into US society, the middle-class, by becoming familiar with American social norm, rules, and values while abandoning their own cultural patterns. Further, due to the diversity of individual socioeconomic background, some immigrants with lower social economic capital may be challenged in the assimilation process. These views associated with some assimilation theory have long been subject to intensive discussion because the unitary theory is inadequate to explain the multidimensional assimilation patterns. In this paper, I exam whether these new Asian immigrants follow a heterogeneous assimilation pathway. In making my case, I utilize Public Using Micro-Sample Data from 2010. The results show that (1) diverse assimilation process exists among new wave of Asian immigrants even though they have close personal backgrounds as educational attainment or the length of stay in the U.S., (3) occupational industry is related to the assimilation process.
