The purpose of this project was to write a grant proposal to secure funding for a mentorship program for immigrant Asian youth involved in the child welfare system. A literature review was conducted to examine the immigration and ethnic backgrounds of Asian youth, their life challenges, their unique needs, and their protective factors. The mentorship program will be offered at Horizon Cross Cultural Center in Orange County, California, an agency that has had a long history of serving immigrants since 197 6. The mentorship program, with a wide range of supportive services, intends to empower vulnerable Asian youth to successfully transition into adulthood. Orange County United Way was chosen to be the potential funder because of their goal of ensuring youth to succeed in school and to become productive persons. The actual submission or funding of this grant was not a requirement for the successful completion of the project.
