The purpose of the present study was to investigate the communication methods and satisfaction between Program Directors (PDs) and Head Athletic Trainers (ATs) to gather information to facilitate improvements in the education of athletic training students. It was hypothesized that PDs and Head ATs would use different methods of communication, be dissatisfied with communication and may have better communication depending on the number of years they have worked together. Analyses were performed first on six complete dyads (N=12). It was revealed that participants did not prefer different communication methods, but they were generally satisfied with their communication. Number of years worked together was not a distinguishing factor for satisfaction comparison. Lastly, the data revealed that those who were dissatisfied with communication did not rate well on the relational coordination survey. Implications are that the relational coordination survey could discriminate satisfaction with communication for athletic training administrators.
