This thesis consists of Where the Ground Won't Shake, a 57 minute hybrid fiction film and related support paper. Unfolding over the course of a day in a small prairie city, Where the Ground Won't Shake wanders through rural and urban landscapes, touching briefly on the the lives of serval inhabitants. Eschewing a unifying plot, the film is structured as a fictional anthology that employes a number of different cinematic styles and themes as it examines individuals waiting for, dealing with, or protecting themselves against a collapse.
