Sort computing refers to the methodologies for developing hybrid intelligent systems, which have been successfully applied for solving complex real-world problems. Type reduction of type-2 fuzzy sets, multidimensional optimization methods, heuristic and metaheuristic searches are the core of many different approaches of intelligent systems. They involve high computational costs, thus the use of novel algorithmic proposals in combination with modern technologies such as multicore processors and Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to improve the performance of such systems is provided.
