The individual differences of encoding and decoding of emotional stimuli will be investigated in relation to attachment style. Past research indicates that those displaying anxious attachment styles perceive changes in faces sooner than other styles but are also unlikely to accurately predict the correct emotion of the face (Fraley, Niedenthal, Marks, Brambaugh, & Vicary, 2006). Data was collected from college students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Participants were for attachment style using the ECR-R (Fraley, Brennan, & Waller, 2000) and then viewed three emotional movie clips. Statistical significance was found for relationship length with emotional intensity ratings of movie clips with alpha = .05.
