Thesis (M.A.)--University of California, Irvine, 2013.
Employing ten detailed qualitative interviews and 50 hours of observation, this paper explores the career development of Los Angeles based street artists who have foresworn involvement in the creation of illegal graffiti. Data collected from these interviews and observations suggest the existence of a group motivated to pursue vocational success in much the same way as their peers in other industries; through continuing education, networking, and respect for the norms of the wider society.
