This dissertation demonstrates that Robert Morrison's mission strategy aided Protestant Christianity in establishing a foothold on Chinese soil and advanced previous mission work by the Nestorians and Catholics; it also responds to the need for an academic analysis of his mission work and strategy. Chapter 1 introduces the necessity of the issue, thesis statement, research conducted, and its significance.
