Imagery in dance classes helps develop psychological skills in students of all ages and stages of training. In order for imagery to be most effective, it should be planned, structured, and inclusive in the types of images used. The benefits of imagery used in early childhood dance classes have yet to be studied, but could range from immediate to long term, including enhanced learning, movement quality, anxiety control, and self-confidence. I propose that preschoolers have the capacity to use all forms of imagery. In my study, I explored the use of imagery with the application of scripted images in preschool movement classes. I analyzed two case studies. Students were observed engaging in planned imagery sessions and were interviewed about their experience. I answered the following questions: what behaviors are exhibited by preschoolers that demonstrate their mental processing of imagery and can preschoolers communicate an understanding of how they use imagery?
