The focus of the qualitative classical grounded theory study was to derive a theory regarding how the ethics courses in business management programs helped managers make ethical decisions. From the findings of this classical grounded theory study, six categories emerged: ethics courses, ethical dilemmas, effects of having no ethics courses taught, examples of ethical decisions, ethical decisions in the workplace, and lessons learned in ethics courses. Based on the comments from 22 business managers, separate course content in ethics taught during their undergraduate degree programs provided the greatest influence on their ethical decisions made in their workplace supporting Nguyen's, et al. (2008) study. Continual ethics training and specific examples of ethical decisions provided by business leaders also influenced ethical decision-making. A new theory has emerged; Management Ethical Theory -- separate course content in ethics taught in business degree programs coupled with continual ethics training in the workplace, and specific ethical examples provided by business leaders help managers make informed ethical decisions. The findings also supported prior studies where business ethics is enhanced by training and good examples set by leadership (Brenkert, 2010; Lynn, 2010; Dawson, 2005). The findings did not fully support Gant's ethical theory, since no two situations in business are the same and cannot be treated the same.
