Thesis (M.A.)--Tarleton State University, 2012.
This paper examines the beginning of oral history, arrives at a definition, and historiography of oral history. The examination of methodology includes identification and justification of the project, instruments used, and questions asked. With a project identified, an applicable methodology is applied. Redeployment and reintegration of soldiers from a combat environment is a difficult experience. Using the oral history interviews from soldiers redeploying from Vietnam and interviews from the last four combat soldiers to redeploy from Iraq, this paper examines and contrasts their experiences in redeployment, and reintegration with their families. The conclusions indicate that the most important issue in redeployment is to keep the soldiers and family members aware of correct information, and to provide redeployment and reintegration briefings to the soldiers and available family members.
