Bullying is becoming more of a problem that youth, parents, school administrators, and law enforcement encounter on a daily basis. As technology and the Internet become tools that are used by school-aged children, a better understanding between face-to-face and cyberbullying is needed. This study sought to examine the difference of face-to-face bullying and cyberbullying victimization outcomes within primary and secondary schools nationwide. The quantitative cross-sectional study utilized secondary data from the 2011 National Crime Victimization Survey, School Crime Supplement. This survey sampled primary and secondary schools with students ranging in age from 12 to 18 years (N=10,341). A binary logistic regression analysis was used to answer three research questions that examine the links between fear, self-protection, and school avoidance. The results suggest that in all cases, face-to-face bullying was a significant factor in the prediction of fear, self-protection and school avoidance, while cyber bullying was not a factor.
