Thesis (Ph.D.)--State University of New York at Buffalo, 2011.
This dissertation analyzes the impacts of economic globalization on wages and unemployment. It uses the fair-wage paradigm as a source of unemployment and explores the role of differences in labor market institutions among countries. The dissertation introduces the fair-wage mechanism into a series of monopolistic competition trade models and examines the implications for trade patterns, gains from trade and income distribution under imperfection in both product and labor markets.
