Incidents of cyber-bullying and adolescent misuse of technology have captured news media headlines and have come to the attention of the public, educators, legislators and judiciary policy makers in the United States and other countries around the world. Nearly everyone is aware that traditional bullying has metamorphosed into online cyber-bullying with far reaching and devastating consequences but there seems to be little on what to do about it. The objectives of this paper are threefold: to educate students, parents, and educators of the seriousness and consequences of online peer abuse and misusing technology by addressing the truths and dispelling the myths of cyber-bulling and computer misuse, to stress the importance of teaching appropriate cyber behavior, and to emphasize the value of parental involvement in understanding how adolescent students are using today's technologies.
