The purpose of this study was to analyze customer participation motivation, service quality and overall satisfaction with fitness spa centers in Taiwan. The target population of this study was from the four main sports centers in Taiwan: Min-Sheng Center (MSC) in Taipei, Jing-Zhan Center (JZC) in Taipei, Zhong-Li Center (ZLC) in Taoyuan, and Jin-Dian Center (JDC) in Kaoshiung. In sum, 2542 out of 3300 survey questionnaires were valid. The valid response rate was 77.03% the data was analyzed by SPSS for Windows 18.0. The methods of data anayzsis included descriptive statistics, a t-test, one-way-ANOVA, Person correlation, and multiple regression analysis (Stepwise regression procedure). These methods were utilized to examine and project relationships among the variables.

The results showed the respondents' participating motivation was affected by four factors: exercise/fitness need, social need, recreation need, and health need. The results showed the respondents' service quality-fitness and spa center was affected by three factors: reliability, tangibility, and responsiveness. The results showed the respondents' satisfaction-fitness center was affected by five factors: service, promotions, physical device, convenience, and corporate image. The results showed the respondents' satisfaction-spa center was affected by five factors: promotions, physical device, convenience, service, and corporate image.

The results also showed the respondents exhibited low levels between participating motivation and service quality-fitness center and satisfaction-fitness center, mid-level correlation between the service quality and satisfaction-fitness center.
