This study seeks to review the effects of music therapy on chronically ill patients, family and caregivers in palliative care facilities and those under hospice home care. Specifically, it identifies the particular instruments, compositions, styles, audio frequencies and decibel levels most conducive to healing and comfort. Although it is suggested that lyrical content may have significant comfort attributes to both patients and families of patients involved in palliative care, the scope of this study includes instruments and instrumental music only.
