Women at the Top presents the authentic voices of 60 successful women and concerns the career challenges they have faced, and how they have overcome them. Their determination and enthusiasm are vital components of their success in meeting the challenge of a sometimes entrenched masculine work culture, although the women recognize the importance of mentoring and networking. Men are playing a bigger part in family life, but the main responsibility for child care still tends to be that of the female partner so that women face difficult choices about reconciling the demands of family and work. This book is set in the context of change for women: looking back at the historical progress of women at work in modern times' and forward with pointers for individual women and the organizations that employ them. It draws on international literature concerning women and work.
