The authors place the current re-discovery of migrants as agents of development into historical perspective, present detailed case studies on labour migrants and refugees, and tie the policy debates to concepts and theories in sociology, political science, social anthropology, geography and political economy. The contributions connect macro-structural social transformations to how new transnational development agents are constituted and act.
