The goal of this study is to reveal aspects of the relationship between financial aid and the quality of academic effort students exert in college. Using three academic effort scales from the College Student Experience Questionnaire (CSEQ), data from the College Student Expectations Questionnaire and institutional data from a small private college, the regression analysis revealed no significant influence attributable to financial aid variables. Gender and pre-college academic ability did have significant influence on two of the three CSEQ effort scales used in the study.Subjects--Topical Terms:
