520 $a The study conducts a needs analysis consisting of an individual general questionnaire given to the foreign language students. The results (Appendix B) show that a majority of the students intend to continue their education and be business majors.
520 $a The English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculum is based on the results of the needs analysis and focuses on a required, lower level, undergraduate economics class. The curriculum is based on the theoretical principles of the genre approach developed by systemic-functional linguists. One unit of teaching is included as a sample of the method described.
