Thesis (M.S.)--Utah State University, 2003.
This thesis explores toilet papering and mailbox vandalizing in their social contexts. I define both behaviors as practical jokes that allow adolescents to express themselves sexually. I collected much of the material for this thesis from firsthand accounts from victims and jokers. I analyze adolescents' experiences by considering both the narrative and figurative level of meaning of their stories. After reading this thesis, one should have a better appreciation for the complexities of adolescent expression, and the ambiguous social dialogues that can occur as adolescents mature into adults.Subjects--Topical Terms:
