Rosa Finsley (1941– ), has been a practicing landscape architect in Dallas, Texas and the surrounding areas for approximately 35 years. In addition to her work as a landscape architect, Ms. Finsley is celebrated as one of the leading experts in native landscape design in Texas. This thesis entails a qualitative research examination of how Rosa Finsley interprets landscape architecture through her individual landscape design philosophies and methodologies. Interviews, personal accounts and built projects are drawn upon to illustrate her particular design style and how that style works with the existing natural resources within a project. This approach provides a framework for the design of a more unique and connected place within nature. It is the purpose of this thesis to examine the role a particular landscape architect has played in providing a basis to understand the relationship between native habitats and the profession.Subjects--Topical Terms:
