The purpose of this thesis is to examine agri-tourism opportunities for organic farms on the Magdalen Islands. This is a qualitative study which involved the following: (1) case studies of three organic farms and their respective farmers to see how agri-tourism might function on their farms; (2) interviews with employees in the Magdalen Islands' environment, agriculture, tourism, and local development industries to hear their opinions on agri-tourism; (3) a tourist questionnaire conducted at a farmers market on the Islands to assess tourists' opinions of agri-tourism and organic farming; (4) personal observations at the case study farms and two local tourist attractions to observe tourists' behaviour; and (5) a landscape analysis on the case study farms to assess the landscape aesthetics and appropriateness of the farms for agri-tourism.
