I conducted a textual analysis of articles from 1993–2002, which were obtained from Representative Deleta Williams. I replicated part of a study done by Hawes and Thomas in 1995. Feminist theory is used as the theoretical basis for this research. I then explain and interpret research dealing with sexist language, the media and women, some of the research being specifically about politics and women.

These articles contained some forms of sexist language. However, the newspapers were not the only guilty parties using sexist language; Williams and some of her colleagues were as well.
