Chapter 2 sketched the political, economic, demographic, intellectual, and religious trends which shaped the Victorian cultural milieu in an effort to establish the larger context within which Spurgeon's evangelistic ministry occurred. The formative influences which were significant in molding Spurgeon's character and preparing him for his role as a pastor/evangelist were identified and evaluated in chapter 3.

Chapter 4 focused on the theological dimensions of Spurgeon's evangelistic model. The study revealed that Spurgeon deplored the dichotomy of theology and evangelism. Built on a high view of biblical authority, Spurgeon's own theology of evangelism was christocentric in character, covenantal in orientation, and constructed primarily within the framework of the doctrines of grace.

Chapter five explicated the various dimensions of Spurgeon's comprehensive and multi-faceted evangelistic practice under the heads: evangelism at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, evangelism through the associations, and evangelism through the Pastors' College. While Spurgeon's evangelistic preaching was treated briefly, greater emphasis was placed on significant, yet lesser known dimensions of his ministry such as: the Colportage Association, the Evangelists' Association, the Country Mission, the Loan Tract Society, church planting, and itinerant evangelism.

The final chapter briefly summarized and evaluated the major findings of the study, succinctly stated some implications for a contemporary model for pastoral evangelism, and suggested some areas for further research.
