Thesis (M.A.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2004.

Four choreographic works were produced as part of the Masters of Arts degree program in Dance and were performed at Boise State University Special Events Center April 23--25, 2004, and Boise State University Morrison Center May 6--8, 2004. Seven Sisters, eight minutes in length, used modern and ballet vocabulary to explore relationships between women, and Chemistry 101, six minutes in length, used modern movement vocabulary to reflect biochemical theories. Both of these dances were choreographed by the candidate. One, choreographed by university student Molly Beardmore, used modern dance vocabulary to explore individual identity. Fire Voodoo, choreographed by university student Hailey Hays, used modern and jazz vocabulary to represent tribal inspired movements in current time. Costumes were designed for Fire Voodoo to enhance the choreography of the dance. Lighting design for One was also created to enhance the choreography of the dance. These works are documented and analyzed in this paper.
