The current fascination with Victorian architecture, interior design, and fashion encourages consumers to use decorative accents in this motif, which includes floral products. General information on Victorian floral arrangement forms, mechanics, and media has vanished with the older amateur and professional florists. In this study, the historical method was used to find what characterized floral designs of the Victorian era.

Important floral market centers during the Victorian era included London's Covent Garden and the New York Cut Flower Company. They supplied flowers directly to households or to flower shops, which then retailed the products. Upper-class household servants or estate gardeners grew their own floral crops and arranged flowers for various rooms of the home, including the dining room.

Changes in formal dining and serving customs eliminated large serving plates from the table and provided more surface area for decorations. Floral designs were deemed necessary in following Victorian orientation toward surface ornament. Floral symbols such as bells, yokes, and love knots were reserved for wedding parties and receptions.

The religious beliefs held by Victorians guided the themes of floral designs at funerals. Many designs depicted the profession of the deceased.
