The ecology of four sympatric felid species was studied in north-central Thailand from February 1999 to February 2003 in Phu Khieo Wildlife Sanctuary. I captured, radio collared and tracked 4 clouded leopards Neofelis nebulosa, 2 Asiatic golden cats Catopuma temmincki, 1 marbled cat Pardofelis marmorata, and 20 leopard cats Prionailurus bengalensis. Additionally, 2 dhole Cuon alpinus , 5 yellow-throated martens Martes flavigula, and 5 binturong Arctictis binturong were studied.

Leopard cat spatial organization was characterized as non-territorial with similar intra-sexual range sizes and minimal seasonal variation. Mean (+/-SD) annual range size (95% minimum convex polygon) for males was 12.4 km2 (n = 1,211 locations, +/-7.1 km2, range 2.2--28.9), whereas females exhibited a mean home range size of 14 km2 (n = 470, +/-12.2, range 4.4--37.1). Core area (50% minimum convex polygon) averaged 2.0 km2, and the mean 1-day movement was 1,298 m (+/-981, range 35--8,653). Leopard cat habitat use was generally in proportion to occurrence. Leopard cat mean activity (52%) was arrhythmic with crepuscular and nocturnal peaks. Analysis of scats indicated that murids dominated leopard cat diet.

Clouded leopards exhibited annual ranges of 22.9--45.1 km 2, traveled an average of 1,932 m each day, and were active 58% of diels. Asiatic golden cats ranged 32.6--47.7 km2, traveled an average of 1,597 m/day, and exhibited an arrhythmic pattern of 58% activity. A marbled cat was tracked for 1 month, ranged 5.3 km2, and was primarily nocturnal in its habits. Limited data indicated diverse prey use by clouded leopards.

Dholes were the dominant large carnivore in the study area, preyed exclusively on large ungulates, and lived in packs of 6--10 individuals within a 31 km2 range. Binturong mean annual range size was 6.2 km 2, and mean range overlap was 35%. Wet season ranges were larger for most binturongs. Binturong mean daily distance was 688 m. A cumulative activity pattern of 47% indicated that binturongs were arrhythmic and crepuscular. Yellow-throated martens showed an annual range of 7.2 km2 and exhibited overlapping ranges of 34%. Yellow-throated martens traveled an average of 966 m/day and activity (58%) was characterized as diurnal.
