The Initial Findings Protocol was investigated to determine usefulness in assisting with making recommend/not recommend decisions for applicants applying for law enforcement employment. Research participants consisted of 296 police officer candidates, 260 male, and 36 female, from municipalities within the Chicago land area suburbs. Instrument used for this study included the MMPI-2, PAI, Life History Questionnaire, and the C.O.P.S. Initial Findings Protocol. The primary results indicated that the Initial Findings Protocol was useful in aiding with a recommend/not recommend decision. Additional analysis of the variables under investigation showed that Mania Grandiosity (Man-G) was the one significant variable that could be used to explain whether a candidate was still employed twelve months after being recommended for hire and whether a candidate was still employed twelve months after being recommended for hire, and subsequently hired.
