Thesis (Ed.Spec.)--Mississippi State University, 2004.
The purpose of this study was to assess the level of career indecision of vocational and non-vocational students. The researcher used the Career Decision Scale to assess the career indecision level of 67 students, all of whom participated in a "Tech Prep" program. The t test and chi-square statistic was used to analyze the differences in the indecision total scores and Factor I scores between (a) vocational and non-vocational students, (b) juniors and seniors, (c) boys and girls, and (d) African American and Caucasian students. The only statistical significant difference found was between juniors and seniors. With 61.2% of the participants scoring below 23 on Factor I, the "career decided" range, the students were well above the national norm of 16%. A discussion is included on the Tech Prep Initiative, a school-to-careers transition program model. This model may be beneficial in helping high school students make viable career choices.
