Thesis (M.A.)--The University of Texas at El Paso, 2006.
The purpose of this paper is to examine gifted and talented programs as well as investigate the theory of multiple intelligence within the visual arts. This paper will address the role of each one and their effect on the educational process especially when it involves the identification of potential students for an identified gifted program. This paper is a literary review to examine and also to add new insight on biases the visual arts programs must contend with when dealing with the gifted programs. Additionally, the paper will identify methods of rectifying the biases towards the visual arts and propose new recommendations for nurturing artistically gifted students within the gifted programs.
