Little research has been written regarding spirituality in abused women. Spirituality has been demonstrated to exist with the use of tests, measures and statistics. Studies using interviews that listen to the abused women's voices have not been found. When given the informal opportunity to give voice to their spirituality, the women reported their spirituality as strength. The research question is, "What is the lived experience of spirituality in help-seeking abused women." This study utilized a flexible, non-causal phenomenological design, involving an interview with the researcher. It is expected that this study will initiate a means for structuring therapeutic spiritual interventions for battered women.
