The Search Institute has identified 40 developmental assets known to contribute to positive developmental outcomes. This study seeks to investigate the effectiveness of a newly designed Developmental Assets Checklist for Adolescents (DACA) aged 12-18 years based on these 40 developmental assets. The DACA was administered to an adolescent clinical group (n = 41) and their parents (n = 40) and an adolescent comparison group (n = 53) and their parents (n = 46). The DACA demonstrated a median Chronbach alpha reliability coefficient of 0.76. The median test re-test reliability was 0.81. The median correlations between the adolescent's self-rating and their parent's developmental rating was 0.61. Thus, the DACA may be a useful clinical assessment device of developmental assets for adolescents.
