The aim of this thesis is to investigate the significance of web technology to home automation. To better demonstrate the significance, a working demonstration is developed involving weather monitoring and prediction. Specifically this involves choosing and programming a suitable embedded control system such that it acts as a link between a weather station, a personal computer at the observatory control room, as well as a website so that weather information may be accessed. The embedded control system is to be programmed such that samples from the weather station are taken at specified intervals and updated.

520 $a The accomplishments with relation to the web page implementation include a data link connection between a simulation of a Weather Station, Weather Station Personal Computer, and a Web Site using the Rabbit RCM 2200 Embedded Control System. Design and implementation of a website to update weather information was also carried out as well as development of a Dynamic C program to control data flow rate to a website, update weather information periodically, implementation of a rolling 24-hour weather history updated every hour, and a graphical representation of the rolling 24-hour weather history, updated hourly.
