Thesis (M.S.)--Wayne State University, 2006.
The construction of a detailed equivalent circuit model has been developed as a valid approach to accurately gauge the magnitude of energy performance of a given building and to conceptualize the inherent efficiency of a series of contributing design features. It has been demonstrated that a reliance on fuel cell technology adds substantial support to a state of energy efficiency via the integration of an internal resistance into an equivalent circuit model, as part of the supplied source of electromotive force. The synthesis of an equivalent circuit model is proposed to adequately encapsulate the mechanism of energy efficiency on a fundamental level that is an ideal foundation for further computational investigations.

By coupling initial simulation results with an energy matrix analysis approach, it is evident that laboratory buildings are inherently prone to energy optimization. The large quantity of energy typically required by laboratory buildings to operate has been quantitatively shown to diminish the payback period of various types of alternative energy technologies, in a quasi LeChatelier type pathway.
